We’ve Gone Viral: 2.5 Million Instagram Views!

“Manitowish Waters” 6’ diameter, North Lakeland Discovery Center, WI.

People love mosaics, and they really love one of our current reels on IG. The video shows Stacia dry fitting a mosaic floor insert we did last year. Since posting the video six weeks ago, it’s garnered:
• 2.5 million plays
• 3,000 new followers
• Serious project inquiries
• Great publicity for Daltile

Why all the interest? People truly appreciate mosaics: The intricate, mesmerizing detail; the tremendous labor involved, and the visual and tactile engagement of puzzle-making.

New Installation: Jackson, Wyoming

After a year in the making (and thousands of hand-cut pieces), we’re thrilled to unveil our newest public art installation. It appears in the main lobby of the beautiful Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center in Jackson, Wyoming. This collaboration with Jackson Hole Public Art included Stacia visiting early on to:
• Research the area
• Teach mosaic art to children and adults
• Share early designs for community input

Watch this video of the completed mosaic.

The focal point of the 40' w x 11' h tile and glass mosaic mural is a majestic elk (Jackson is home to the National Elk Refuge) against the backdrop of the gorgeous Teton Mountains. We added mirror to the snow for reflectivity.

To fully activate the main wall, the mosaic flows up and around two doorways and their fire doors.

The mosaic includes a soaring eagle and images of people staying active and connected to community.

The installation trio at work: Stacia, her husband Len, and son Simon.

Our road-trip art adventure included a snowstorm that stranded us in eastern Wyoming; hitting a deer (it lived); a speeding ticket, and hours of hilarity listening to David Sedaris storytelling.

Underway: Frostburg State University, Maryland

We’re making great progress on our public art commission with Maryland State Arts Council for Frostburg State University. The mural will highlight Maryland’s fascinating geology, including local fossils sourced by students.

The final mosaic (23' w x 6' h) will be in FSU’s new Education and Health Sciences Center.

Mixed-media materials include stained glass, ceramic tile, Maryland fossils and rocks.

Bobcat pawprints “walk” across the mosaic to honor the Frostburg State University Bobcats.

Studio Visitors

Rubble Tile  We love our suppliers! Rubble Tile, based in Minneapolis, MN, has been a long-time partner for sourcing our favorite ceramic wall tile from the Netherlands

We invited Rubble staff to tour our shop this past winter. Our little Mid-Century mosaic vibe in situ. We love designing patterns.

Prism Grout  Always on the hunt for the most advanced grout and mortar, we had a rep from Custom Building Products demo a new pre-mix grout.

Stacia is checking out the grout’s pliability and setting time.
