New Installation: Sumner Library

“Garden of Goodness” (28’ x 3’ ceramic tile, glass). Watch this short video of the completed project.

Our latest public art installation is complete at the newly renovated Sumner Library in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The mosaic mural is comprised of eight separate, removable panels installed above the main reception desk. Patrons see the artwork right as they enter the beautiful, historic space.

The mosaic begins with hands opening a book to sprout a traveling vine.

Six mosaic book covers spell out the library’s name.

The mosaic ends with a spiral flower, which represents infinite learning.

Stacia facilitated a design-input session with library staff. We also had patrons vote on two designs and add comments.

Over 100 people participated in an afternoon of free mosaic-making during the library’s grand re-opening celebration.

In Progress: Indiana Welcome Center

It’s awesome when our existing mosaics in the world inspire more of the same. An architect recently saw our mosaic murals, "Northern Lights - Winter Run" and "Northern Lights - Summer Swim", at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The result: A new commission (see How to commission us) is now underway for the Indiana Department of Transportation’s new Black River Welcome Center. We’re creating four mosaic panels – state insect, flower, bird and tree.

Partial Shot: Indiana State Insect – “Fireflies” (6’ x 3’ completed); glass, mirror accents; ceramic tile boarder.

Partial Shot: Indiana State Flower – “Peony” (6’ x 3’ completed); glass, mirror accents; ceramic tile boarder.

Coming Soon: State Bird (Cardinal) and State Tree (Tulip Tree)

In the News

As a mixed-media mosaic artist, I love to combine materials – including wood. Last month, I took an intriguing class taught by artist Susan Ribnick. I can't wait to incorporate this technique into my art practice!
